On Monday, a woman receiving treatment for the swine flu died after giving birth to a healthy baby at a government-run hospital in Hyderabad.
In addition to being pregnant, Shahanaj, a native of Karimnagar district’s Jammikunta Mandal, also had the swine flu. Last week, she was transferred from a neighbourhood hospital in Warangal to Gandhi Hospital. She was held in the swine flu ward ever since and was receiving treatment.
Dr. Ramesh Reddy, Director of Medical Education, stated to the media: “Although the C-Section procedure was performed by the Gandhi Hospital medical staff and the baby was successfully preserved, Shahanaj tragically passed away while receiving care. Her infant is now in the hospital and is doing well.”
