Hackers steal Rs 21 lakh from a retired teacher’s account.

According to reports, cybercriminals used a WhatsApp link to reportedly access the bank account of a retired teacher in Annamayya and steal Rs 21 lakh.

A WhatsApp message from an unknown number was received by Varalakshi, a resident of Reddeppanaidu Colony in Madanapalle town of the Annamayya district, according to the police. When she clicked the link in the WhatsApp message, money was taken out of her bank account.

Varalakshi asserted that since she has been getting notifications money has been taken out of her account. She learned that her account had been hacked and that Rs 21 lakh had been taken out of it after speaking with bank representatives. On Saturday, Varalakshi reported a cybercrime to the police.

Inspector Muralikrishna of the Two Town Circle reported that online criminals were sending links to WhatsApp numbers, hacking accounts, and taking money out of those accounts.

“Gnanaprakash, a software employee from Madanapalle, recently had Rs 12 lakh taken from his account by cyber criminals. On Friday, two town police reported the event. The very next day, a report was received alleging that Rs 21 lakh had been stolen from retired teacher Varalakshmi’s bank account, the official continued.

The inquiry is in progress.
