An unfortunate day in Telugu cinema history. Uppalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju, better known by his stage name Krishnam Raju, was an actor and producer. He had health problems and passed away this morning in Hyderabad at 3:25 AM. He was 83.
He was born in 1940 in Mogalturu, West Godavari, and is better known by the stage name Rebel Star. In 1966, he made his acting debut in Chilaka Gorinka. The movie also received a Nandi Award. Later, he played several movies’ attractive bad guys. He finally rose to fame and won the hearts of millions of children during that time. Over 183 films featured Krishnam Raju garu as an actor. His most recent film appearance was in this year’s Radhe Shyam, starring Prabhas.
He was also a political activist. The production company Gopi Krishna Movies belonged to him. Additionally, he received numerous Filmfare and Nandi Awards. Some of his well-known films include Thandra Paparayudu, Bhakta Kannapa, Bobbili Brahmanna, Bava Bavamaridi, Dharmathmudu, and Jeevana Tarangalu Krishnaveni.
The actors and crew in Tollywood expressed their sorrow at the famous actor’s passing. Their family was left with a void following Rebel Star’s untimely passing. The last rites will take place today.
