For earning bronze medals in the FIDE 44th Chess Olympiad, the India-B and India-A Women’s teams would each receive a monetary prize of Rs 1 crore, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced here on Wednesday.

The nearby city of Mamallapuram hosted the FIDE Chess Olympiad, which ran from July 28 to August 9. In the Open division, the India “B” team settled for a bronze medal, while on Tuesday, the India “A” women’s team likewise placed third.
The Chief Minister expressed his happiness over the two teams taking home medals in a statement, saying they had brought honour to the nation.
The Tamil Nadu government would present each of the two winning teams with an award of Rs 1 crore, he said.
