At the district headquarters town of Bapatla on Thursday, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the release of the fee refund to the students under Jagananna Vidya Deevena. For the benefit of the state’s 11.02 lakh pupils, he contributed Rs 694 crore.

The tuition was paid by Jagan Mohan Reddy directly into the moms’ bank accounts. In exchange, the moms would provide the money to the colleges where the children are enrolled in professional programmes.

Under the Jagananna Vasathi Deevena, the state government would also give each of these students an additional Rs 20,000 to help with food and other expenditures. The state government would also pay off Rs 1,778 crore in arrears that have accumulated since the TDP administration.

Kona Raghupathi, a local MLA and former deputy speaker, thanked the chief minister for travelling to Bapatla district for the first time since its creation and noted that it had realised a long-held desire for the community by becoming a district.

In addition, the local MLA congratulated the chief minister for approving the construction of a medical school and teaching hospital in Bapatla. He asked the chief minister to provide enough money to build the Bapatla municipality.
